A piece of more recent Canadian history! This Hiram L. Piper Railway short globe lantern was made between the late 1960's and early 1970's. The lantern top is marked CNR.
The deep red round glass globe is marked Adlake Kero and CNX (short for Corning non-expansion glass - a predecessor of pyrex).
The underside of base is marked Adlake Kero, Patented, USA Canada.
The #400 burner is marked "Use Long Time Burning Oil Only".
Condition: used. This lantern is in great condition with little rust and the usual scratches/wear for its age. There is a slight wonk to the chimney lid - see photos for details. Note: this is a vintage piece with wear, meant for decorative use only.
