CNR Hiram L. Piper Adlake Kero Brakeman's Lantern - 1936

This short globe brakeman's lantern was made in 1936 by Hiram Piper for the CNR (Canadian National Railways).

One side of the clear glass globe is marked CNX (identifying the glass maker and type as Corning NONEX - a predecessor of pyrex), CNR and "Made in USA". The opposite side of the globe is marked Adlake Kero. 

The underside of base is marked Adlake-Kero 4-36, USA, 1415633, 1415634-1415635, 1660194, and Canada 1921-1923, and Pats Pending.

The #400 burner is marked "Use Long Time Burning Oil Only, H2400".

Condition: used. This lamp is in good condition with very little rust. There are some small dents and the wire base has been pushed out of alignment in one section. The glass globe has minor chips on the top and bottom lips not visible when lantern is assembled. The bail (handle) is fixed in the upright position.  Note: this is a vintage piece with wear, meant for decorative use only.  See photos for details.
