This Dietz Vesta lo-top cold blast brakeman's lantern was made in Syracuse NY in January 1945. 

The handle (bail) is fixed. The dome is marked "New York, Dietz Vesta, USA”. The lantern lid is marked with patent and production dates. 

One side of the clear glass globe is marked Dietz, Vesta, New York, USA in raised glass. The opposite side of the globe is marked CNX (identifying the glass maker and type as Corning NONEX - a predecessor of pyrex).  

Condition: Good used. The fount is firmly fixed in place - unknown if it can be removed. This is a vintage piece with rust, wear, scratches and dents, and is meant for decorative use only. See photos for details.
