Charcoal Box Iron with Chicken / Rooster Latch

This heavy charcoal box iron has wide side and back vents, a wooden handle and a rooster hook latch.

Charcoal box irons were heated by glowing charcoal that was inserted into the bottom compartment. 

Condition - very good. Some wear minor chipping to the wood handle. The manufacturer is unknown.  See photos for more detail.
