Made in Germany around the 1880's, this thermometer measured bath water temperature in both Celsius and Réaumur scales, with markings to indicate warm (WB) and cold (KB) bath temperatures.
The thermometer used alcohol, rather than mercury, which was safer but not as long lasting since alcohol would eventually evaporate. It was encased in wood so that it would float in the bath, while also keeping the glass protected.
Condition: Fair used. Non working. One screw is missing where the base is attached to the thermometer casing. There are cracks in the wooden base, which is as expected given its age. See photos for details.
