Florence Wyle Owl Bookends

A lovely pair of cast iron bookends from artist Florence Wyle.  Made in 1927, these still retain traces of their original paint.

About the artist:  Florence Wyle (Canadian, 1881–1968) was a leading, talented and prolific sculptor. She was also a poet. 

Born in Illinois in 1881, Wyle moved to Canada in 1914 where she remained until her death in 1968.

Wyle was a founding member of the Sculptors Society of Canada. She received the Coronation Medal in 1953 for her contribution to Canadian art.
