Large Pewter Flask/Canteen - James Dixon & Sons

This large metal flask/canteen was made in Sheffield between 1879-1921 by James Dixon and Sons, and can hold a whopping 42 ounces of water (or whiskey!). 

The bottom of the canteen is stamped with the Trumpet and Banner figural trademark, James Dixon & Sons Sheffield, 1387.  Monogramed with the initials WAA.

Condition: good used, some dents and scratches.

About the maker: James Dixon and Sons, established in 1806, was a large manufacturer of pewter ware, electroplated Britannia metal, silverware and electroplated nickel silver. They were particularly well-known for their powder flasks and whistles!
