Paragon English China Cup and Saucer - "Reproduction of Old Rhodian"
Couldn't load pickup availability
A stunning English china teacup and saucer made by Paragon. The pattern is "Reproduction of Old Rhodian", a design inspired by 16th-century Ottoman Iznik ceramics.
The cup's central motif is a stylized floral “tree” rising from a small urn/vase, with a large cobalt-blue rosette at the top (orange/red and green accents in the centre), flanked by slender leaves and small berry-like buds. The flower pairs on either side are upright tulip-like blooms—one set in iron-red/orange, the other in deep cobalt blue—with fine black/grey outlining and green stems. The design is transfer-printed with hand-applied red/orange enamel.
The registration number and backstamp date this set to the 1920's.
Condition: Very good. Clean, even crazing consistent with age; no chips or cracks, some paint transfer lines on both pieces. See photos for details.
