T.L. Moore Switchman's Railway Lantern - 1915

Unlike most other railway lantern manufacturers, T.L. Moore sold lanterns directly to railway switchmen, rather than to railroads.  Moore's lanterns were manufactured for his company by the Star Headlight and Lantern Company.  Dating to around 1915, this switchman's railway lantern features a fixed wooden and metal handle (rigid bail). 

The lantern top is stamped "Sold only by T.L. Moore, San Antonio TX, Pat June 19, 1906".  The tall clear glass globe is unmarked.

The burner is a drop-out pot (sometimes called a "Sangster" fount), a unique feature found in early lanterns of this type.  

Condition: Good used. This is an antique piece with rust, wear and dents, and is meant for decorative use only.
